I graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, where I specialized in graphics. I have since then worked as a freelancing Artist, and painting and drawing are the techniques that dominate my work. I create figurative compositions and landscapes. Through the symbolic representations, I seek to portray existential questions. I focus on the reality that I am surrounded by, i.e. The existence of the "modern man" living in an era of multidimensional change. The second central theme of my work is landscapes. I interpret the strong emotions that my surroundings, and especially nature, evoke. My compositions sometimes preserve observed orders and divisions. Often, however, the painting leads me into more abstract grounds. In my work on landscapes, the need to simplify and summarize dominates, but at the same time, I work with different textures to create a living image. Portraits take a special place in my work. Through the face, I seek to express the truth about the human being, whatever that might mean. Painting occupies the most place in my work. However, the graphics remind you of yourself. I put away the brushes and go to the graphic studio. I like working with traditional techniques, especially the linocut technique. But I am also looking for unusual traces, creating matrices from various materials. Graphics is searching. Although the graphics allow reproduction, it is not the most important for me. I print small editions. Graphic print on good paper has an element of nobility, unique beauty. I believe that a hand-made graphic print preserves. Computer techniques, which are already more widely used by visual artists, will not dominate traditional methods. Jolanta Johnsson exhibited at 30 solo exhibitions and took part in several group exhibitions, both in Poland and abroad. Her works are in private collections in Poland, Sweden, Germany, Kanada, Dubai and the USA.

The title of this series may seem illogical. The word landscape connotes a view, preferably a view of a natural landscape. But every landscape is made up of the matter of plants, earth, light, and shadow. These elements form their own autonomous compositions. I look at them intently and note them on the canvases. Abstract paintings emerge. But I think the source of my inspiration is evident in them. Nature offers us an infinite number of landscapes. I arrange them within myself into my own landscapes.

Drawing comes first in the creative process. It is a kind of notebook for the Artist. But a drawing can be an autonomous work, a finished work. In this series, I show such drawings. Most of them are in pen and ink technique. This technique allows for precision, differentiation of textures, and strong contrasts, even in a small format. The drawings are an integral part of my artistic work. My drawings are created in cycles. The first drawing inspires the next. Each technique offers possibilities for artistic expression. Figurative motifs dominate my prints. They are paintings about human relationships. The relationship between two people, especially between a man and a woman, is a special kind of relationship. Also, very inspiring. I am one of many Artists who express themselves on this subject. I create simplified figures, watching their contours come closer or further apart. The white of the background between them is an additional figure - its shape communicates their proximity or distance.
