Self–taught, Mac is inspired, mainly, by City scenes, especially of France where he lives. He is captivated by French architecture with ornate facades, the faded beauty of old restaurants, cafes & shop fronts, reflections in windows & the forms created by the night lights of big cities. He paints mainly in oil on canvas, a technique that enables him to create subtle & interesting effects. Capturing & recreating all the different lights & nuances is a challenge he revels in. His style is impressionistic built up by layering many different colours.
