Stefano Genzone (Modena 1991) lives and works in his studio, an old abandoned butcher shop, on the outskirts of Modena. He graduated in Graphic Design at the Accademia Clementina Di Belle Arti di Bologna, Genzone forges a conversation between the Italian artistic environment, contemporary art, and European aesthetic trends. He questions the definition of contemporary Art by combining modernist brushstrokes and figurative Art on his canvases. The anatomy of what is not visible is at the center of his attention, as is the human psyche and its relationship with reality. Genzone utilizes mixed media that he blends himself, such as white spirit, oil, acrylic paint, and spray paint, to grant his subjects another dimension and his canvases uneven surfaces: it breaks the two-dimensionality of the support opening towards otherworldly dynamics. Through his pictorial language, Genzone is determined to explore the invisibility that anyone can feel, but that not everyone is called upon to determine its boundaries. In his paintings, the collapse of the real datum and the forced coexistence of man nature are tangible and narrated with subtle sarcasm. The question remains visible and unresolved, nothing is accomplished, yet the future is possible, leaving the viewer, embedded as a subject, in the antiphonary of the canvas. It breaks the monotony of the already seen, it distills the acts of memory, it corrodes the boredom of the repetitive - it projects the gaze towards the future. His paintings manu- facture devotional figures hanging on hooks: men, animals, or concepts? Genzone regularly collaborates with other artists and curators to create alternative ways of presenting his work online and arranges on-demand private viewings in his studios.
