TALL AS A SPIRE 03

The painting was made during the corona lockdown and is inspired by the book ‘Torenhoog en Mijlenbreed’ by Tonke Dragt. “Where are forests hot as fire, Wide as England, tall as a spire” These lines of verse by R.L. Stevenson inspired Tonke Dragt. Her descriptions of the amazement and amazement at what nature has to offer inspired the Artist to incorporate parts of the text into the forest using leaf metal. As with a real forest, the atmosphere and appearance of the work of Art are strongly influenced by the incidence of (sun) light.
